WHO ARE WE?
Lara Sands began Sharing is Caring in 2020 during Melbourne’s second covid lockdown (the long one). Moving on from one of Melbourne’s top creative agencies, she found herself being asked in a string of job interviews when she planned on having children and then consequently not getting the job. The final straw came when a recruiter told her not to wear her wedding ring to interviews as her age and marital status would lead prospective employers to consider her a ‘maternity leave risk’ and so too costly for a business to give the job to.
Feeling demoralised and disappointed at the advertising industry she’d dedicated a decade to - she decided to get out of her comfort zone and do something for herself. Using her creativity and love for gift giving and taking inspiration from her parents who she’d seen run their own successful fashion business; she put herself out there and began the journey of starting her own business.
The first gift Lara created was for her best friend who had her wedding cancelled due to covid. She put together a hamper that later became Mimosa Mornings, with the aim of lifting spirits. It did the trick and so Sharing is Caring was born!

We have a strong commitment to supporting local and other small businesses in Australia, as well as building our business in a way that treads lightly on the environment where possible.
Our mantra is ‘Sharing is Caring' which goes beyond giving and is why we want to share our gifting platform to support other local and small business Australia wide but without caring for the space in which we live as much as possible there will be no future in which to share gifts. With over 25% of all products sold in Australia imported from overseas we endevour to help minimise the impact that transit has on carbon footprint through sourcing products locally where possible and working with brands who's products are also developed and delivered with a similar ethos on the environment.
